I'm a freelance designer residing in Long Beach, CA with a passion for all things design. I earned a B.A. in Graphic Design from Loyola Marymount University in 1996, and I've been off and running ever since. Contributing to the success of your organization through branding & graphic design is what I love to do. There's nothing better than taking a concept or idea and turning it into a great piece of functional art. I entered college with aspirations to be an animator/illustrator, however once I took my first design class I was hooked (who knew kerning could be so much fun!?). Even though graphic design takes up most of my time, I still love to draw. My love for cartoons & animation had me drawing at an early age. Endless hours of drawing Bugs Bunny and Willie E. Coyote helped pave the way to where I am today... which is kind of scary.
Your brand is not just a logo, a website or a fancy business card. Your brand is your company philosophy, your identity and your reputation. How your story is perceived by people is your brand. Your logo, website and marketing collateral should work together to convey your identity clearly.
Logos are the first impression. Your logo should be both, visually impressive and purposeful to what you're trying to achieve. Make sure your representing yourself in the best light and making that first impression is a good one.
Similar to a logo, your website will give the viewer an instant impression of who you are, good or bad. Good websites look cool. Great websites get you easily to where you want to go and they look good doing it. Make sure your front yard looks good but amaze them when they come through the front door.
I love paper & page layout! There I said it. I'm not ashamed. I spent over a decade designing page layouts for the educational market and the fundamentals learned helped me tremendously. Navigating viewers around the internet is fun, but conveying an amazing message or idea on a single page, a menu, an ad, a mailer or a buisness card... that's graphic design right there.
So you have a Facebook page, a Linkedin page, a Twitter account, a Pinterist account, a MySpage page... well hopefully not a MySpace page. Are they all working together to promote your business and brand? They should be... and they easily can be.
